AAC Lab returns as Special Awards Judges at the Ventura County Science Fair 2018

AAC is happy to once again support our young scientists as Special Awards judges at this year's Ventura County Science Fair!

"The Science Fair brings together students, teachers, and scientists from around the county to: Develop in students an awareness of the importance of science in their lives and to cultivate students’ interest in science; Support students’ acquisition of scientific knowledge and research skills; Extend and reinforce the Science Content Standards for California Public Schools; Recognize and reward outstanding achievement in science; and Motivate students to undertake and complete scientific inquiries in their special areas of interest."

AAC's goal is to encourage young scientists to pursue chemistry and environmental science. As an encouragement, we awarded prizes to three outstanding high school level projects submitted in the categories of chemistry and/or environmental science. The first winning prize received $100, the second winning prize received $75, and the third winning prize received $50!

On Friday, AAC Chemist Jeyla attended the Science Fair at California Lutheran University and evaluated posters based on topic relevance, depth of research, and execution of the experiment. She then interviewed the students who had the most impressive posters to further evaluate their level of knowledge and critical thinking with regards to their project. Jeyla selected the three most exceptional projects which would receive an AAC award certificate along with a monetary prize.

AAC chemist Zandra attended the Science Fair Awards Ceremony on Monday evening to present our wonderful winners with their prizes and congratulate them on their scientific achievements. Congratulations to all students on a job well done!

Congrats to our 2018 winners!
